LIFT is a web magazine for the adventurer in all of us (not necessarily the gym goer) -- successful men and women who work hard and play harder. Fitness isn’t about living at the gym, it’s about living at your peak, no matter what stands in your way. It’s about obeying the alarm clock, peeling yourself out of bed, and finding that extra hour most people think they’ll never have.

LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

Shelby Auctions 'Black Hornet' Mustang For Charity

Shelby-Black-Hornet.pngCreated under the direction of racing legend Carroll Shelby, the 1968 Shelby EXP500 CSS “Black Hornet” pays tribute to its chrome and green prototype, the Shelby Green Hornet. Like its predecessor, the Shelby Black Hornet sports the famous scoops and stripes, powered by a Cobra Jet 428 V8 engine with a heart-pounding 335 horsepower. It began life as a vintage 1968 Mustang, and was transformed into an authentic Shelby muscle car worthy of inclusion in the Shelby Worldwide Registry. In its next life, it could be yours.

Yes, Carroll Shelby is dipping into his personal collection to auction off the 'Black Hornet', all in the name of charity.

The auction starts today and runs until December 12th on eBay. Bidding starts at $100,000. About three-quarters of the sale will go to the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation and Restoration Hardware is partnering with Shelby on the sale. The car is estimated to be worth $175,000, though it could go for more depending on its value to a Shelby collector.
