LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog. Plus, I'll never earn your trust that way.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

PostSecret: Extraodinary confessions from ordinary lives

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. Read about the project here.

I have been a fan of this site since it's inception, checking in every now and again to read and look at the dark recesses of fellow humans minds. Why do I do it? Mostly out of my own curiosity and intrigue. My reaction, when looking at the many and varied postcards of peoples secrets, ranges from shock to laughter. They are all so different, some quite light-hearted, others so incredibly deep and others filled with tragedy. The full gamut of humanity is on those postcards.

Therefore because it seems that this project is a total reflection on us, which is why it is so interesting and obviously addictive to so many, I thought you should visit it, if you haven't already ... or just visit it again. So much of our success with life actually relates to our mental condition I thought you might want to see from time to time that others may have the same feelings as you and that you're not alone. The project (which is also a book) is a fabulous tribute to humanity and looking into someone else's life will allow you to look into your own and maybe it will help you with your New Year's resolutions.

I use to read this jnl. all the time. I even submitted a postacard! (got published even though the PO beat it up some and then I realized you are suppose to mail it, not post card it..lol) Yet, I visit it rarely because it makes me so sad. So much loliness and sadness and despair in the world. Yet, I suppose the web site offers some redemption and recognition.
