LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog. Plus, I'll never earn your trust that way.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

BlogBurst.comLastly, this site is syndicated through Blogburst, so it's likely that you'll see LIFT on Fox News, Reuters, or USA Today.com.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

Playing in the rain

umbrella.jpgThey say when it rains, it pours. And for you, it’s no joke. The minute the first drops start to plunge, so does your attitude. Out comes the grouch, the rude dude, the “hurry along” Sally.

The finishing touch: A cruddy umbrella promoting some long-gone-dot-com.

The solution: Don’t be a slave to the weather. Brave those raindrops with a little smile and a cool umbrella. Unfortunately it's a concept, but I love the idea ... it's a unique, funnel shaped umbrella (designed by Alex Woolley) that harnesses the flow of rainwater down into its handle, a water pistol. The user can fire at will, maintaining a constant flow of water as long as rain continues to fall!

You’d be amazed at how that can lift your spirits.

Even when the sky is falling.
