LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog. Plus, I'll never earn your trust that way.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

Improved visual acuity gives athletes the competitive edge

nikemaxsight.jpg
These little gems will help improve your game, even if you have perfect vision and don't wear glasses.

Basically, if you're really serious about your game and tend to do everything in your power to get a leg up on the competition, you will want a pair of NIKE MAXSIGHT contact lenses (they represent the single quickest way to enhance visual performance in outdoor sports). The disposable Bausch & Lomb/Nike soft lenses are available in two tints, grey-green for sharpening details while you run or golf (so you can track that little white ball against the sky), and amber for fast-moving field sports like soccer, tennis, baseball, football, and rugby.

Both colors reduce glare and filter out 95% of UV-A and UV-B rays as well as blue light (which creates a sharper image). They also provide a clear view at all angles as well as from peripheral vision.

Best of all, there are no expensive frames to break!
Price: $54.95 a box (six lenses per box), nike.com

Note: Probably the most important part of wearing these things is the way the amber contacts mess with your opponent's head. There is a dramatic red-eye effect when you put them on. And while an intimidating red-eyed glare is not such a bad thing when you are staring down your opponent on the field, you might find yourself scaring strangers if you forget to take them out after the game.

Those could be very effective used in games with artificial light.
