LIFT is a web magazine for the adventurer in all of us (not necessarily the gym goer) -- successful men and women who work hard and play harder. Fitness isn’t about living at the gym, it’s about living at your peak, no matter what stands in your way. It’s about obeying the alarm clock, peeling yourself out of bed, and finding that extra hour most people think they’ll never have.

LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

BlogBurst.comLastly, this site is syndicated through Blogburst, so it's likely that you'll see LIFT on Fox News, Reuters, or USA Today.com.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

Here's One Good Reason You Shouldn't Let the Economy Get You Down

portfoliophoto.pngPhoto: Scott McDermott/AuroraI was just over at Portfolio.com reading a story they published a few months back. A story that seems even more relevant today: The Upside of the Downturn and #4 (of 6) caught my eye, so I thought I'd share.

According to them, you could possibly take this time to obtain a killer bod.
You know all that time you're not using to make money these days? Well, research suggests that you're likely to use it to work out more frequently and eat a more sound diet, leading to improved overall health. A reduction in workplace stress means you're also less likely to die of a heart attack, and you'll probably self-medicate less with tobacco and alcohol during recession years. So you've got that going for you. Which is nice.
Sounds good to me! And, if time has anything to do with it ... well, then we should all look smokin' hot before this is over!

When money troubles, or any troubles,, for that mater have you down, go for a run, a walk, a swim, hit the weights...Do something to vent off the steam. some of my best-and most successful clients- are those with very stressful jobs. True. I found my own silver lining during this downturn. As I was cleaning my garage late last year, I rediscovered my old Schwinn (http://schwinnusa.com/allschwinn_3403201_B0021I150I_Schwinn-Coronado-Womens-Comfort-Bike-26-Inch-Wheels.html), which I will use for exercising this year. I'm shunning my gym membership and will instead commune with nature by riding my bike around my beautiful neighborhood.
