LIFT is a web magazine for the adventurer in all of us (not necessarily the gym goer) -- successful men and women who work hard and play harder. Fitness isn’t about living at the gym, it’s about living at your peak, no matter what stands in your way. It’s about obeying the alarm clock, peeling yourself out of bed, and finding that extra hour most people think they’ll never have.

LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

BlogBurst.comLastly, this site is syndicated through Blogburst, so it's likely that you'll see LIFT on Fox News, Reuters, or USA Today.com.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

GymSoap.com: Give Them a Hand

Gym.

Picture 3.pngSixty euphoric minutes of crunches, squats, and push-up bliss.

The gym may be a haven of excitement for some, but for you it’s a breeding ground for germs, bacteria and fungus.

You’re not alone. After a not-so-hygienic brush with the germ-plagued reality of the gym he worked out in, Christopher Plaisance decided to create GymSoap and made it his mission to make a clean, mean, pro-hygiene product for like-minded people.

GymSoap is 99.9 percent effective and unlike other soaps, which fight bacteria on one level, GymSoap is antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal.

And that’s more than you can say for those gym mats you were just laying on.

Here are some gym germ truths.

I have worked at some so called high end gyms in NYC and high end gyms still have low end germs.

=======================
5 Scary Gym Germ Facts
=======================

1) Exercise mats are rarely cleaned and have germs not found on NYC subway.

(I cleaned one 1 time and it turned 5 while towels black. I threw away the towels just in case your are wondering)

TIP: Use one towel for the equipment one for your face. Some people wipe their face with both eeeww

2) Use a towel on the spin bikes. PLEEEEASE! you can use your own imaginations there

3) Hot Tubs...most people don't take a shower before hand and go straight in after a sweaty workout and using the bathroom and yes that even means after people do#2.

TIP: Just stay away...I say go for the steam room or sauna. Eases the muscles faster anyway

TRUE STORY:There were numerous times when I was washing my hands at the bathroom sink then someone came out of the stalls doing #2 and when I offered to move they said, "No I'm Okay!" and walked right past the sink as if it didn't exist

4) Try not to shake hands. See reason #3

TIP: Fist bump or bow like the Japanese. People will think that you are super humble if you bow.

I hope this helps.
