LIFT is a web magazine for the adventurer in all of us (not necessarily the gym goer) -- successful men and women who work hard and play harder. Fitness isn’t about living at the gym, it’s about living at your peak, no matter what stands in your way. It’s about obeying the alarm clock, peeling yourself out of bed, and finding that extra hour most people think they’ll never have.

LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

BlogBurst.comLastly, this site is syndicated through Blogburst, so it's likely that you'll see LIFT on Fox News, Reuters, or USA Today.com.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

Get in shape and defy gravity with a modern day pogo stick

flybar1200_600.jpgIt’s that time of year.

The shorts get shorter. The tans gets darker. And your ass gets smaller.

Or so you wish.

There's still hope. Trade in your Redbull and Lunesta, it's time to put new meaning to your ups and downs. A little 'extreme' for some, but honestly the Flybar is just a high-tech modern version of your old Pogo Stick and it delivers serious fitness benefits. The design isn't radically different; 'er actually it is. It has a lot more oomph. The 13-pound Flybar 800 can bounce four feet high, while the 20-pound Flybar 1200 can soar as high as five feet.

Flybar is totally safe and it’s way more fun than what the grown-ups are currently doing. It not only burns calories, but the act of rebounding regularly on a pogo stick can also lower circulating cholesterol and triglyceride levels, assist in the rehabilitation of a heart problem, promote tissue repair, improve balance, increase capacity for respiration and improve muscle-to-fat ratio. Did I mention that it can help to keep you young?

Basically, getting your butt in shape can be as easy as child's play.

NO. No No No. I am actually very good at a normal pogo stick. So of course I went out and got one of these things. I mean the demo videos were amazing! They were shooting like 5 feet off the ground!

However, after a month I gave up. Trying to pogo on a 20 lb. contraption was a nightmare. And it was so big and awkward to use. It also didn't help that to adjust the rubber bands in it was a lot of work so to switch for my brother who is bigger than I am to use it (or attempt to) we have to take the whole thing apart.

In the end we sold it. I never made it more than 5 inches off the ground.
