Tipping your personal trainer or athletic coach for the holidays
The difference between a good tip and a great one costs little but means a lot to the recipient (as any former waitress knows). If you're deciding between money and a present, research shows that most personal trainers prefer cash, but presents are always welcome.
During the holidays, you tip the people who perform services for you year-round, who are there for you when you need them and whom you have a valuable relationship with. Hopefully you have a valuable relationship with your personal trainer.
And, tips vary for trainers... a lot of which depends on your relationship with them. For instance, you don't have to give as much to a new personal trainer because you haven't forged a relationship with them yet.
The average tip: One hours session.
The most generous tip I've seen at one of my husbands facilities: One family (you know who you are) gave a trainer a tip of $4,000 to pay off the last of her student loans! - It was an amazing act of generosity.

$25,000 dessert: Does that include the tip?
Stephen Bruce, owner of Serendipity 3, has gotten himself a Guinness world record for the most expensive dessert in the world.Yes, the dessert emporium teamed up with jeweler Euphoria New York to create the "Frrozen Haute Chocolate," a $25,000 chocolate sundae. The new dessert is made from a blend of 28 cocoas from all around the world and is infused with five grams of edible 23-karat gold and served in a goblet lined with edible gold. It is topped with whipped cream, more gold and a side of La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier, which sells for $2,600 a pound. It even comes with souvenirs, an 18K gold bracelet with a carat's worth of diamonds that rests at the base of the goblet and a gold spoon set with white and chocolate-colored diamonds. It makes yesterday's $1,000 bagel look positively simple by comparison.
Lucky for me: I just happen to be one of the few people who genuinely doesn't like chocolate. More importantly though, I don't have $25,000 to blow!
Remind me: When did eating gold become popular?
