LIFT items are selected either by myself or by one of my guest editors. If you have a cool tip, please share it with me! And, no, you can't pay to be featured on LIFT. That's what advertising is for, and it's clearly labeled as such. I do not want to destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of this blog. Plus, I'll never earn your trust that way.

For the most part, I take the photos ... but from time to time I use Getty Images, iStockphoto (where I am currently a stock photographer) and Bauer-Griffin.

BlogBurst.comLastly, this site is syndicated through Blogburst, so it's likely that you'll see LIFT on Fox News, Reuters, or USA Today.com.

I hope that you continue to enjoy LIFT. I look forward to publishing it.

Cartier Snow Polo

POLO.jpg
Itching for something new? Go east. Well, as east as St. Moritz, an exclusive resort town in the Engadine valley in Switzerland

Why: St. Moritz is considered the oldest winter resort in the world -- popular pastimes include skiing and hiking, and nearby there is also the world famous Cresta Run toboggan course.

Visit from January 24th to the 27th and you'll get to see the 24th Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow. Year after year, the organizers manage to tempt the world’s very best polo players to St. Moritz. I know, snow polo may sound like a quirky offshoot of more serious equestrian activities, but the World Cup on Snow is, in fact, one of Europe’s top polo fixtures, taken very seriously by those taking part – and those watching. Set on a vast frozen lake (yes, a frozen lake) in the heart of St. Moritz, the best players meet for a fiercely competitive tournament. An incredible site, this is one of the most aesthetically attractive settings for watching live sports that you will ever visit. Alongside the competition, the event brings with it an incredibly social scene that sees a host of parties thrown in conjunction with the event.

Plenty of food, men in tight pants, Champagne, cigars and one of the world's most glamorous destinations. It should make for a good time.
